About SEISHINDO

正心道について

正心道 信龍タカ
Seishindo started in 1995 in Chico, California, USA,
in a room in the rented house where I was living at the time.

Since then, little by little, branch dojos have been opened both in Japan and overseas,
and many black belt students have been born from Seishindo.

Seishindo is a dojo specializing in karate and kobudo 'kata'.
How can we make karate and kobudo fun for people of all ages and genders without injury?
With this idea in mind, we started as a dojo specializing in kata,
with no kumite or sparring, an unprecedented attempt at the time and a first in the industry.
Kata practice is usually done alone.
Not only does it require understanding the meaning of each movement,
but it also requires physical and mental training and study.
Through practice, it becomes an opportunity to reexamine your true self
and get to know it more deeply.

《Kata practice = self-study, discovery, joy and peace of mind, and mindfulness》

At Seishindo, we also focus on child development, parenting support, and child counseling.
At most Seishindo dojos, child students start with private lessons.
We place great importance on conversations with students and their families,
and carefully progress training using teaching methods and a curriculum that are tailored to each individual.
At Seishindo, each student is not one of many, but each one is unique.
Our ultimate goal is for our students to become independent.
To become people who can do things on their own.
This is the goal that all Seishindo dojos strive for.
A bright future from Seishindo!

We will continue to support our students with all our might,
and we intend to grow together with you in a fun and humble manner,
so we appreciate your continued support.

ABOUT BUYO

武踊について

What is BUYO?
You freely adapt martial arts forms and movements to create your own unique kata.
You then spend years refining the kata you've created until you find the one that best suits you.
Through that kata, you train, study, discover, and express true yourself.
BUYO is a new martial arts genre and a new art.
(BUYO was created by Taka Noburyu.)

BUYO is
an art that expresses martial arts forms and movements more freely and naturally, and that also integrates them with music, stage sets, costumes, lighting, and more.

However, while it says "expressing martial arts forms and movements more freely and naturally," there are rules to follow, and it is important to understand these before performing.

These rules include the "Law of Kankyu," "Four Laws of Movement," "Law of Double Rotation," "Law of Breathing," "Law of Bunkai," and many others.
Buyo requires understanding these rules, following them, and expressing freely and naturally.

Taka's interpretation is that "kata is practice in which one learns how to intentionally and naturally express unnatural movements," and that doing so leads to "knowing oneself and getting closer to one's (true) self."
And it must be beautiful. In other words, the expression becomes more beautiful when it approaches nature. This interpretation is based on the idea that "natural = beautiful = (one's true) self."
